Black Wall Street never re-emerged in Tulsa, but its promise lives on. Given the opportunity to spend money in neighborhoods African Americans couldn't previously access, many spent elsewhere and eventually moved out of Greenwood, taking business with them. Greenwood eventually rebuilt, but things changed with desegregation.
